Born in Salem, Ohio, Dr. Simon attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and received a degree in Microbiology. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Ohio State University Medical School. Moving west to Los Angeles, he then completed his training in Internal Medicine, and subsequently Cardiology, at U.C.L.A., San Fernando Valley Program.
Dr. Simon specializes in the management of all types of cardiology patients, especially those with hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), a condition for which he has routinely given lectures to the medical community. He also specializes in cardiology interventions such as angiogram, angioplasty, stent, and pacemaker implantation. He is on staff at most major hospitals in the Valley, including Providence Tarzana Medical Center, West Hills Medical Center, and Motion Picture Hospital. He has practiced in the Valley since 1987.
As a member of American Medical Association, Los Angeles County Medical Association, and American College of Cardiology, Dr. Simon is actively involved in administration at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center. He is currently the Director of Cardiac ICU, Directory of Telemetry Unit, and Chairman of Critical Care. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at U.C.L.A. Dr. Simon is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Dr. Simon has participated as an investigator in many clinical trials involving pacemakers, unstable angina, and acute myocardial infarction.
